Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation

a book by Candace Owens

(our site's book review)

Candace Owens Addresses the Many Ways That Democrat Party Policies Hurt the African American Community

The Amazon blurb says that NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

It’s time for a black exit.

Political activist and social media star Candace Owens addresses the many ways that Democrat Party policies hurt, rather than help, the African American community, and why she and many others are turning right.

Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned.

Slaves picking cotton

She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American Dream. Instead, Owens offers up a different ideology by issuing a challenge: It’s time for a major black exodus. From dependency, from victimhood, from miseducation—and the Democrat Party, which perpetuates all three.

Candace Owens Was Taught to Feel Like a Victim—but Then She Realized That Was Part of the Liberal Elites' Scam

Owens explains that government assistance is a double-edged sword, that the Left dismisses the faith so important to the black community, that Democrat permissiveness toward abortion disproportionately affects black babies, that the #MeToo movement hurts black men, and much more. Weaving in her personal story, which ushered her from a roach-infested low-income apartment to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, she demonstrates how she overcame her setbacks and challenges despite the cultural expectation that she should embrace a victim mentality.

The Left is Antifa supporting, conservative speaker attacking, speech stifling, First Amendment violating, and behind the erasure of our Founders' true greatness, calling them and all whites oppressors, racists, victimizers, etc. The Left's anti-white racism is extreme

Well-researched and intelligently argued, Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation lays bare the myth that all black people should vote Democrat—and shows why turning to the right will leave them happier, more successful, and more self-sufficient.

Democrats are closet racists who want modern plantations where they can keep people poor so they can pretend to care and help, ensuring votes; to keep minorities fooled, they evolved PC victimizer-victim narratives; Democrats manifest a plantation mentality that subjugates minorities into dependency and sloth

See Death of a Nation: Plantation Politics and the Making of the Democratic Party, which is by Dinesh D’Souza. It makes the case that Democrats are the ones killing America by turning it into a massive nanny state modeled on the Southern plantation system.

This sweeping alternative history of the Democratic Party goes back to its foundations in the antebellum South. The slaveholding elite devised the plantation as a means of organizing labor and political support. It was a mini welfare state, a cradle to grave system that bred dependency and punished any urge to independence. This model impressed northern Democrats, inspiring the political machines that traded government handouts for votes from ethnic immigrant blocs.

Today's Democrats have expanded to a multiracial plantation of ghettos for blacks, barrios for Latinos, and reservations for Native Americans. Whites are the only holdouts resisting full dependency, and so they are blamed for the bigotry and racial exploitation that is actually perpetrated by the left.

What Have Blacks Gotten for Their Loyalty to the Democrat Party? Cultural Backsliding

Larry Elder says that "Candace Owens dares ask, What have blacks gotten for their loyalty to the Democrat Party? Democrats preach and teach blacks to think and act like perpetual victims, eternally plagued by 'institutional' or 'structural' or 'systemic' racism, never mind overwhelming evidence to the contrary. After all, this is a country that, in 2008, elected a black man for president, and in 2012, despite a tepid economy, reelected him."

Owens says that "In short, despite overwhelmingly casting our votes for Democrat political candidates, disparities between white Americans and black Americans still exist and across many categories have worsened. Certainly no sane person would make the argument that America has become a more racist country since the 1960s, which gives way to the obvious truth that these disparities have little do with systemic oppressions. But obvious truths have never been the way of the Democrat Party.

Liberals Say a Vote for the Democrats Will Surely Turn Things Around for Blacks—and Yet It Never Happens

"Like FDR and LBJ before them, today’s Democrat leaders establish their bases by theatrically harping on the struggles of minorities. They lament the injustice of our circumstances, with an all-too-familiar silver-lined promise that a vote for them will surely turn things around. Of course, the success of this repeat broken-promise strategy is fueled by our acceptance of their victim narrative. And because victims cannot also be victors, the end result is a paradoxical nightmare: an endless cycle of voting for necessary change, while refusing to change the way in which we vote, necessarily."

I've voted for change so many times and Dems kept claiming they heard Black people's words, yet things have only gotten worse! I think I'll give the Republicans a try next time . . .

"In less than a year, Candace Owens has gone from a rising political YouTube personality to one of the leading faces — and voices — of the conservative effort to win back the votes of young and minority Americans. Owens, 28, spends her days zigzagging across the country, speaking at GOP fundraisers and on college campuses as the communications director of Turning Points USA, the country’s most prominent and contentious conservative student group. She became the new darling of President Donald Trump at lightning speed last month when a video of her berating black protesters at the University of California, Los Angeles, as 'privileged Americans' obsessed with 'shouting about slavery' went viral. Shortly after, rapper Kanye West tweeted 'I love the way Candace Owens thinks.'" "She travels around America to voice her opinion in an attempt to educate Black Americans on why being a Republican is the right choice to make. This is the argument that Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation lays out. Embedded with her own personal experiences, history, and statistics, she argues her point very well. Every section Owens wrote in this book was carefully crafted to lead up to her larger idea that the Democrat Party is the main reason why Black Americans have suffered and still suffer today.

Owens Debunks the Idea That Police Brutality Is a Problem Facing the Black Community Today Using Statistics Which Show Black-on-White Violence Is the Problem, Not White-on-Black

"Owens debunks the idea that police brutality is a problem facing the black community today using statistics. Instead, she preaches that the absence of fathers in the home is the greatest problem regarding Black Americans today, and she blames the Democrat Party for creating this issue. All of these points lead up to her metaphor of the 'Democrat Plantation,' as the Democrat Party does not let anyone (especially Black Americans) think for themselves. She encourages Black America to disassociate from the Democrat Party and to start forming their own opinions." Owens strives to educate readers on all the ill attempts Democratic leaders have tried to sugar coat black freedom, while all along keeping them shackled to the party, which merely uses them

"Just 31 years of age, Owens offers up an eye-opening 284 pages chronicling in-depth details how the Democrat party, while pretending to advance black America, have used their agendas to make blacks dependent on the government. In 'Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation' Owens strives to educate readers on all the ill attempts Democrat leaders have tried to sugar coat black freedom, while all along keeping them shackled to the party. While not entirely negative, 'Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation' traces black history back to the days of Lincoln, and the emancipation the 16th president helped bring about.

"Moving forward, Owens recalls the years from the 1860's to the 1960's where prominent Democrats tried to undo all Lincoln and fellow republicans offered black Americans. Nothing is off limits in Owens' stark and candid portrayal of the democratic party's carefully maneuvered plan, to hold blacks down through various social programs. Owens blames the party, the mainstream media, and her fellow black citizens for continuing to fall for the charade. She notes that as long as everything is free to the black community, they will never become independent." It's Been the Democrats That Held Back the Black Community After the Civil War, and the Civil Rights Era Helped Black Rights but Continued to Hold Back Blacks—in a Different Way

Owens Joins Trump in Calling Foul on the Scam of Liberals Convincing Blacks That They Are All Victims of the Evil White Man

Owens joins Trump in calling foul on the scam of liberals convincing Blacks that they are all victims of the evil white man. She explains how from 1860 to 1960, it was the Democrats who held back Blacks—as well as being behind the Civil War, the KKK and the Jim Crow laws. Starting in the 1960s a new scam was perpetrated on Blacks: convince them they are all victims in desperate need of liberal programs to save them. It was simply another way to hold back Blacks and use them for votes. They then added another scam: conservatives are evil, racist, white supremacists. The truth was that it was Democrats who were racists, not the conservatives. But they relied on Hitler's propaganda strategy: repeat a lie enough times and people will start believing it. They got the mainstream media working for them as the unofficial Ministry of Propaganda, as in Orwell's 1984.

Trump did better at getting Blacks jobs and increasing their wealth than the Great Black Fraud Obozo ever did—his presidency swindled America—a country he hated
Trump did better at getting Blacks jobs and increasing their wealth than the Great Black Fraud Obozo ever did—his presidency swindled America—a country he hated

Obozo in the White House was not a win for Blacks in spite of liberal lies to the contrary. By nearly every metric, he made things worse for Blacks. He helped divide and polarize our country and did little for Black unemployment and imprisonment. Trump did much better for Blacks than Obozo ever did. And more voted for him than they ever did before in 2020 (12%, but only 7% in 2016) because Trump did better at getting them jobs and increasing their wealth than the Great Black Fraud Obozo ever did.

The logical end result of a politicized liberal education that teaches that conservatives and whites are subhumans whose words should be censored in that there will be book burnings in our future
The logical end result of a politicized liberal education that teaches that conservatives and whites are subhumans whose words should be censored in that there will be book burnings in our future

Many reviewers got their books in filthy condition, which of course was immature liberal employees at Amazon expressing their opinions about people writing conservative ideas. "Black people should KNOW THEIR PLACE and only support Democrats. Those that don't are race traitors." This disguised racism from leftists is much like the book banning actions of fundamentalists and the censorship of conservatives on Twitter and Facebook. Liberals have been brainwashed in school to believe conservatives should have no First Amendment rights since they are bad, evil, wrong, liars, homophobes, xenophobes, and racists. These are the lies liberals get fed in their shameful school indoctrinations disguised as education. The truth is that it is Democrats who are racists, not the conservatives. Their whole identity politics obsession is a cynical, racist manipulation by liberal elites who pretend to care about minorities but in truth are merely using them to gain power for themselves. This book is highly recommended—especially for Black Americans.
