A number of electoral reforms are necessary to rescue American democracy:
- Expand the use of Clean Money, Clean Election programs.
- Provide a None of the Above option on ballots.
- Permit fusion candidates to promote third-party candidates.
- Reform the Electoral College or its use by states.
- Provide Instant Runoff Voting.
- Pass the "Our Democracy, Our Airwaves" federal law.
- For primary elections, support an open or crossover primary that favors third-parties.
- Make voting compulsory after other reforms
Voters are apathetic because the more they vote for change, the more things stay the same
“Our constitutional republic is on life support, ravaged by the viruses of avarice and Social Darwinism. Read this amazing book to learn how you can become a part of America’s cure.”—Jason S. Miller, writer for the blog Thomas Paine’s Corner
“A masterful and comprehensive analysis of the most salient issues of our time: the intersection of democracy, morality, citizenship and the quality of everyday life. Anyone who is troubled by the claim that something has gone terribly wrong owes it to himself or herself to spend a few hours with this book.”—Jerry Fresia, author of Toward an American Revolution
“It matters not one iota which political party is in power, or what President holds the reins of office. We are not politicians or public thinkers; we are the rich, we own America; we got it God knows how; but we intend to keep it if we can.”—Frederick T. Martin, The Robber Barons, 1934
With false information, fake patriots uphold America’s pseudo-democracy that no longer works for the good of its citizens. Taxation with rampant misrepresentation requires a second American Revolution to restore America’s democracy. Delusional Democracy connects far-ranging dots for a compelling account of America’s steady decline and presents specific actions that can reverse it. Written for conservatives, libertarians, liberals, moderates, independents, greens, and progressives, as well as dissatisfied Democrats and Republicans, Delusional Democracy will convince readers that we the people have the power to begin American democracy over again. This book exposes the culture of lying, truthiness and spin and describes how untruth damages democracy
Delusional Democracy is an indictment of the corruption that flourishes at all levels of society and particularly in our government. It exposes the culture of lying, truthiness and spin and describes how untruth damages democracy. Truth — Rest In Peace
This book gives form and focus to the discontent shared by people around the country. It is a clear call to arms against the status quo in our time and offers thought-provoking and unconventional ideas for how to reform the system through citizen action. Delusional Democracy: Fixing the Republic without Overthrowing the Government is a deftly written call to action—not to overthrow the government, but to do whatever we can to set our democratic institutions on the right path once more, to cut through the oceans of false information and misrepresentation and speak truth to power. We've tried the path of war, corruption, neocon fascists robbing the middle class of our wealth and rights while they lie through their teeth and pretend to "protect us from the big bad scary terrorists." We all hate this pseudo-democracy path. Let's try an alternate path—REAL democracy!

The author tells us that the 2016 election clown show should have been an eye-opener for us all: "Two of the most widely known untrusted and untrustable unpopular politicians ever produced here or anywhere. Two sick narcissists in it for themselves, not the country," but they told us that we are "better together" and we need to "make America great again." Both want to help the country but want to help themselves even more. Both plan to lay down and let the shadow government run things while they posture, pontificate, and prevaricate. Both will siphon incredible wealth into Big Banks and the Corporatocracy while they let corrupt neocon Empire-building warmongers dominate our murderous foreign policy. The citizens want no part of any of this but the corrupt, special-interest-serving two-party system gave us no one to vote for that represented an alternative to this ugly path of endless debt, war, middle class disappearance, being lied to, pretense, and exploitation of both the U.S. and many other countries around the world. Democracy? Fat chance! Folks, voting will not help—it just plays right into their hands, legitimizing the illegitimate, rubber-stamping the neocon takeover, winking at the shadow government as if to say "good job, guys!"

Joel S. Hirschhorn does not mince words about Trump and Hillary: "Can you settle into voting for the lesser of two evils, when each of the two evils makes you gag? Evil does not accurately describe these two options. Choose the lesser of two embarrassments, of two calamities, of two democracy destroyers."
Most issues about politics can easily be grasped by simply following the money; e.g., to see why there are such huge campaigns of lying and misinformation, simply follow the money
If the people in government we are discussing are analogous to football players and the goal line is where they should run if they are trying to effectively act in the interest of the electorate, then the actual, real-life actions of current American politicians are analogous to starting to run down the field, but then swerving over to the sideline where Corporatocracy fatcats are giving away bags of cash. Goal line—and U.S. democracy—be damned!

Note that the leaders (Ronnie, Bill, Dubya, Barack—it matters not) we keep electing are doing the following: putting our country into incredible debt, helping the oligarchs get filthy rich by robbing the middle class, starting wars we want nothing to do with, burning the Constitution and cancelling many of our rights, spying on us innocent, patriotic Americans even more than on the terrorists, and doing all this with phoney benevolent smiles on their lying faces. Does this smell like democracy to you? To us, it just plain smells!
Does all the above smell like democracy to you? To us, it just plain smells!
Unless American citizens start defecating money, the debt has put us all in deep doo-doo
Boycott the presidential election. We've been saying this for years. If everyone plays their game, they just keep up business as usual. At least if no one played, they'd see that we are not buying the democratic delusion these con artists are selling. As they said in War Games, sometimes the only way to win is not to play. For all of the 21st century, we have all been losing (except the 1%). Aren't you tired of it yet? We must get off our butts and help push electoral reform via the 8 points mentioned above—until the reform, boycott the elections
The 2 parties make a big show of being opposite of each other, and yet on things that matter, they're identical (war, elites, banks, economy, foreign policies, military, etc.
"Most Americans—at least those that vote—seem incapable of understanding that the Democrats and Republicans are two teams in the same league, serving the same Shadow Government cabal running the corporatist plutocracy. By keeping people focused on rooting for one team or the other, the behind-the-scenes rulers [shadow government] ensure their invisibility and power. The genius of the plutocrats is to create the illusion of important differences between the two parties, and the illusion of political choice in elections. In truth, the partner parties compete superficially and dishonestly to entertain the electorate, to maintain the aura of a democracy. Illusion creates the delusion that Americans voting in elections will deliver political reforms, new directions, and bold new policies, despite a long history of politicians lying in campaigns about reforms—and everything else. The rulers need to empower control shifting between the 2 teams [parties] to maintain popular trust in the political system. Voting manifests that trust—as if changing people will fix the system. It doesn’t. So voters become co-conspirators in the grand political criminal conspiracy." (Source: The Grand Delusion, Joel Hirschhorn, Counterpunch)
Here's one guy's response to the Trump in the big white Whorehouse: "An iconically oval symbol of power is now in the hands of a man who apparently views it as a suppository, as he asks if we, the people, are willing to bend over. Not saying no, is saying yes." (Source: Democracy vs. Delusion, Dr. David L. Katz, The Huffington Post)
Continue to resist oppression, corruption, and crooked politicians FOREVER!
Hirschhorn tells us that "massive numbers of Americans have deluded themselves about the nature of American representative democracy. If they think that our system is equitable, effective and trustworthy—or the best that it can be—they are truly delusional. The goal of my book was to break through peoples' psychological defenses, [help them] see the truth, and then become engaged to improve our beloved nation through many reforms. . . . Despite the will of the people, the entrenched opulent class is working feverishly to ensure the perpetuation of their genocidal war on "terrorism", which is actually blowback they created through their innumerable imperial provocations. The ruling elites have fought with virtually every fiber of their collective being to fend off nearly overwhelming popular demand to divert our tax money from killing to healing. Profits, power, property, and the military industrial complex have superseded the needs and welfare of We the People for decades." RESIST!
