Though we should not fool ourselves into thinking that it will be easy to eliminate identity politics, we should not overthink it, either. Identity politics relies on the creation of groups and then on giving people incentives to adhere to them. If we eliminate group making and the enticements, we can get rid of identity politics.
The first myth that this book exposes is that identity politics is a grassroots movement, when from the beginning it has been, and continues to be, an elite project. For too long, we have lived with the fairy tale that America has organically grown into a nation gripped by victimhood and identitarian division; that it is all the result of legitimate demands by minorities for recognition or restitutions for past wrongs. The second myth is that identity politics is a response to the demographic change this country has undergone since immigration laws were radically changed in 1965. Another myth we are told is that to fight these changes is as depraved as it is futile, since by 2040, America will be a minority-majority country, anyway. This book helps to explain that none of these things are necessarily true.

Mike Gonzalez is the Angeles T. Arredondo Senior Fellow on E Pluribus Unum at The Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. He spent close to twenty years as a journalist, fifteen of them writing from Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He left journalism to join the Bush administration, where he was a speechwriter for Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Christopher Cox before moving on to the State Department’s European Bureau, where he wrote speeches and op-eds. Liberals feel justified in cancelling all First Amendment rights of conservatives, alt-right people, and basically anyone who disagrees with anything liberals say. As we've said, things have gone VERY wrong in our identity politics utopia!
There is suppression of speech in this new Dystopia, which is the direct opposite of utopia, and it is a term used to describe a utopian society in which things have gone wrong. Our identity politics utopia is just such a Dystopia. Things have gone VERY wrong. For example, hate speech is anything that makes anyone uncomfortable or afraid. This would apply to basically anything that comes out of a conservative's mouth, since they are racist and evil, in liberal-think, so liberals are justified in cancelling all First Amendment rights of conservatives, alt-right people, and basically anyone who disagrees with anything liberals say. As we've said, things have gone VERY wrong! These attitudes and cancelling actions are not only fascist and antidemocratic, the leftists have their own shock troop stormtroopers—Antifa, which pretend to be about anti-fascism while acting precisely like fascists. Ain't liberal hypocrisy grand?!

Society in liberal-think is divided in an oppressive fashion between heterosexual, able-bodied white males and everyone else—all of whom can claim being an oppressed group. Except the heterosexual, able-bodied white males, who are evil . . . just because. He has extra privilege in our society, even though the affirmative action obsession in our country has made him less likely to get into college or get that job. Jim Crow racism is way behind us, so now it is important to find systemic racism throughout American culture. The racist death of George Floyd was the perfect opportunity to "detect" a system oozing with systemic racism throughout American culture. Detect . . . . . or fabricate? To us it appears that the racism they are detecting is about looking in the mirror: the leftists are inventing a victimization society so they can tear down the government in order to restructure it so they get more power and Republicans never win any more elections. These white male-hating leftists are the most racist Americans since Jim Crow racism plagued our country.

The last chapter of The Plot to Change America: How Identity Politics is Dividing the Land of the Free attempts to explain to citizens and politicians how to reverse course from the sick, polarized, hate-slinging, white-loathing society the leftists have warped us into. The saddest part of all this is that they did it intentionally—all to gain power and wealth. The key is to expose identity politics for the exploitational scam that it is so we can all move forward and start to heal. The liberal plot was to convince everyone except straight, ablebodied, white males that they were an oppressed minority that were victims.
It was an ugly thing to do to a nation that could have been so much more if not for all the intentional polarization instilled by evil, racist, liberal elites. The Ford Foundation has been a heavy investor in the liberal plot that spewed social justice lies as they kept "victims" from assimilating into the American culture, and ended up enriching the powers of the liberal elites as they exploited minorities for their own purposes, although they sure as hell would never admit any of this.
