In this study, students’ grades, confidence level, persistence, task involvement, adjustment, success, and rapport with teachers were generally predicted by both current and childhood levels of parental authoritative parenting, regardless of whether students were still living with parents or out on their own. This demonstrates that authoritative parenting plays a major role in school success.
