Crisis of Character: A White House Secret Service Officer Discloses His Firsthand Experience with Hillary, Bill, and How They Operate
a book by Gary J. Byrne
(our site's book review)
In this runaway #1 New York Times bestseller, former secret service officer Gary Byrne, who was posted directly outside President Clinton's oval office, reveals what he says he observed of Bill and Hillary Clinton's characters and the culture inside the White House, while protecting the First Family.
Obama, as president, threatened people with IRS audits and other means to get his way—he didn't like the USA or our people, and he was a racist and a liar
When leadership has no character, people die, freedom suffers, and America declines. Hillary threatened people with IRS audits and other means to get her way, as Obama did as president (which is a felony). This book is about two ruthless and unprincipled people and the chaos they caused. Hillary was ruthlessly ambitious and used intimidation to force her will on all those around her. She swore at political aides, government functionaries, and especially her staff, such as the Secret Service, who—because of their very positions—are not allowed to defend themselves. She was a tyrant, and a bully. If you believe Byrne, that is.

Byrne finally got Monica transferred because her dalliances with Bill were inserting chaos into managing the White House security concerns. A White House steward, a guy named Nel, found himself constantly coming across semen and lipstick stained towels. He was distraught—and one day showed some of this stuff to Byrne. Nel was a Navy chief petty officer reduced to washing the president's incriminatingly soiled towels by hand just to protect the unfaithful, immoral President from embarrassment. It wasn't just Monica. They knew the women in the White House by the lipstick that they wore. There were several colors—hence, several bimbos (e.g., Elinore Mondale). No wonder Hillary was so volatile, mean, and easily upset. "Bimbo eruptions" indeed! If you believe Byrne, that is.
Here is Bill lying about having sex with Monica Lewinsky: 'I did not have sex with that woman'
The Drudge Report broke the Monica Lewinsky story in January 17, 1998. The Howard Stern show talked about the intern turned White House employee who had been having an affair with oral sex in the Oval Office, or as Rush Limbaugh was later to call it: The Oral Office.
Monica was not that shy about her affair with Bill Clinton
Ken Starr started an inquisition once Monicagate was under way. Byrne got sweated by Starr and Secret Service lawyers but he did his best to stay loyal to the presidency—the office, not the man, who had showed his true, sleazy colors. So Byrne told the truth but avoided anything that felt disloyal. The Secret Service lawyers told Byrne that he could not release information that would be damaging to the security and safety of the president. That would be nonnegotiable. They told him not to buckle under pressure from Starr, who, as everyone knows, is an A-hole. Byrne knew he was between a rock and a hard place. Byrne said that he tried to insinuate that the President was an unabashed cheater and womanizer, without revealing confidential information.

After all the sludge Byrne found himself wading through in the Secret Service, he got disgusted and joined the Air Marshals service, making planes safer from terrorists or troublemakers.

One cannot help but compare Hillary's impetuous, volatile, immoral, impulsive, violent, money-grubbing, greedy nature with Trump's impulsive, volatile, immoral, money-grubbing, greedy nature. It's kind of a toss-up which one is more dangerous to our country. If you believe Byrne, Hillary is all these things, if you don't, then she isn't. Well, Trump won, and Clinton lost, so the question about dangerous is now academic.
One cannot help but compare Hillary's impetuous, volatile, immoral, impulsive, violent, money-grubbing, greedy nature with Trump's impulsive, volatile, immoral, money-grubbing, greedy nature—who's worse?
"Despite its being ignored by the mainstream media, Crisis of Character is already a best-seller, driven by interviews and coverage in conservative outlets with the author relating his distressing experiences while serving in the Clinton White House as a U.S. Secret Service officer. The manner in which this book has been promoted creates the impression that it is a must-read for anyone seeking to discover just how awful a person Hillary Clinton really is, as exposed by a dedicated law enforcement officer who from observing her up-close finds her lacking the character and temperament that should be required of a U.S. president. . . . Gary Byrne reluctantly played a pivotal role in the truth coming out regarding the Monica Lewinski scandal and this part of the book is gripping [exposing Bill as] a sleaze and a liar." Last year (2016), Former Agents of the United States Secret Service, which is strictly nonpartisan, released a statement blasting Gary Byrne, author of Crisis in Character, for eroding the trust between agents and the people they protect. They say Byrne has politics and profit on his mind. They don't believe Byrne's story of walking in on Bill making out with a bimbo, or his claim that he was stationed right outside the oval office, since he was—as a uniformed officer—too low level to be allowed into the inner perimeter. And they pose a very relevant question: why would an employee wait in excess of ten years after terminating his employment with the Service to make his allegations public? Of course, the answer is obvious. It came out during Hillary's run for office as a political hit piece. At best, say the former agents, Byrne heard some juicy gossip around a water cooler and wrote himself into the event as an observer. But Byrne's publicist, Vanessa Oblinger, insists it's all true. Someone is lying. But who? (Source: Secret Service veterans denounce anti-Clinton tell-all book , Edward-Isaac Dovere, Politico)
Truth — Rest In Peace
So here we are again in post-truth America, the home of fake news, faker news, and liars' central. Most people define fake news as false information, but, uniquely, Donald Trump defines fake news as anything he disagrees with or anything that does not agree with his ideas. Bill Clinton defined sex as the thing he didn't do, which was very very fake news, but later, because of the stain on the blue dress, he admitted he lied: he had sex with Monica. So this means that truth is whatever anyone says it is, unless someone can prove he lied, in which case the truth is simply the truth! Sigh . . .
Trump-ettes see Trump as saving us from fake news, while Hillar-ettes see Trump as destroying truth as we know it—ruining it forever
One bunch of pundits, consultants, reporters, talking heads, or "experts" says X is right, but just as loudly another bunch of pundits, consultants, reporters, talking heads, or "experts" says X is wrong. They cannot both be right. Each bunch uses pejoratives for the other bunch: conspiracy theorists, propagandists, prevaricators, liars, fibbers, and—our favorite—truthiness spreaders. See Shadow Elite: How the World's New Power Brokers Undermine Democracy, Government, and the Free Market.
There's no reliable way to determine which bunch is spreading manure and which is spreading truth. So—predictably in post-truth-land and even more predictably in a polarized nation of black-think and white-think and no grey-think in between—the Trump-ettes preach only to their choir and the Hillar-ettes preach only to their choir, and no one listens to anyone who is stating any opinion that is not the opinion that they already hold. People read or hear or watch only things that parrot their current beliefs—they only read or listen to or watch news to assure themselves just how smart their opinions are so they can say: yay! or you tell 'em, guys, or good for you. It isn't learning from news reporting, it's rooting for team smart (which has "good" ideas, the ideas you like) against team dumb (which has "bad" ideas, the ideas you dislike).
Confounding and further complicating all this truth, nontruth, antitruth and pseudotruth is the fact that U.S. news from mainstream media outlets goes through CIA filters which leave it untouched if it is not relevant to international or military policy or security; otherwise it is either edited or deleted or marked secret so it cannot be used. See Freedom of the Press—an American Delusion and Democracy—an American Delusion. The only way to avoid these filters is to avoid mainstream media and consult alternative media instead.

Whatever happened to democratic ideals? You remember those: informed voters hearing BOTH sides of an issue and carefully weighing them on the scales of logic, rationality, and common sense, and only then voting to make ones opinion be heard and counted. Whatever happened to debates where people think and converse and consider the others' opinions, rather than screaming giant clown shows full of caterwauling phonies not even pretending to listen or discuss or consider or weigh ideas? They're all gone—democracy took it on the chin when the corporatocracy took control.
Democracy took it on the chin when the corporatocracy took control
Nowadays, a polarized public tunes in like the gladiator contests of 2000 years ago to see their champions laugh at, belittle, insult, and slander the other champion. It's all spectacle. Ideas be damned—they're looking to see who draws the most blood. It isn't about democracy. These bloodletting spectacles are about selling toothpaste. They're the Wide World Of Wrestling without the muscles or hitting or chair-slammed-on-head slapstick. But Trump's "nasty woman" jabs and "crooked Hillary" slams are every bit as effective—if a bit less bloody.

The USA is so polarized that there is no longer any point in the pretense that we are a country. We are three countries: east liberals, west liberals, and bubbas. A house divided against itself cannot stand, said Lincoln. Well, we are not standing—we are staggering, swaying, and teetering. A drunk could do better. We might as well opt for devolution and creating three from one before the three de facto countries start wars with each other, or at least terrorism.
U.S. Devolved Into Three Countries
Byrne obviously belongs in Bubba-land with the other Bubbas. He can write articles for the other Bubbas in Bubba-land. No one will disagree. The Liberal-land libbies want no part of his hit piece on Hillary. But then in Bubba-land there will be only Bubbas on the ticket for elections so the various candidates will be forced to respect democracy and seriously discuss issues. The same will happen in Liberal-land, a country whose main distinguishing feature is the singular absence of Bubbas, so they, too, will have to discuss, not cuss, be thoughtful, not slanderous, and be respectful, not insulting. Libbies's articles will receive full support as well. No one will disagree.
Current U.S. politics is hopeless—like a pushmi-pullyu, where each effort of the blue half nullifies the efforts of the red half
The author's perspective that some of our leaders have huge character flaws that make them unfit to lead is not the recent phenomenon he believes it to be. It goes all the way back until we had a statesman, FDR, who was a good leader, who had integrity, and who was without major character flaws. Every leader before and since has said they were "for the people," but FDR did more than talk the talk. He walked the walk.
In Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power, the most important book of the 21st century (along with The Forest Through The Trees), we learn that since FDR came right out and told the truth about how the rich and powerful were screwing them—which scared them and threatened their wealth, and since the 1960s when the young and women and blacks rebelled against unfair white male dominance as well as the corrupt, murderous war the corporatocracy was running to increase corporate and oligarchical wealth—which again scared the rich and threatened their wealth, the rich oligarchs have taken steps to ensure that their wealth and power is never threatened again. And all our "leaders" are in on the gag, since their position will soon make them rich too, so you can chalk their presenting themselves as "for the people" as just so much horse pucky. I.e., THEY LIED!!! They're for themselves and their buddies.
The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power add up to, for average citizens, getting screwed out of wealth, power, and control, but—worse yet—screwed out of democracy itself
The situation in 2017 is that we are so far BEYOND screwed that we couldn't catch a bus back to SCREWED
The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power in Chomsky's brilliant book outlines these citizen disempowerment steps which also happened to be oligarch empowerment steps. What these steps add up to for average citizens is getting screwed out of wealth, power, and control, but—worse yet—screwed out of democracy itself, so that there was no way for us little people to vote their way out of this evil bondage. By creating an oligarchy that they continue to refer to as democracy—to fool the Sheepizens—the rich and powerful were able to control the people autocratically and oligarchically without the risk of ever losing power or wealth again as they did under FDR before and during WWII and under LBJ and Nixon during the revolution for freedom that included civil rights, racial rights, and women's rights.
The question is: how much longer can the rich fool the Sheepizens with election-clown-show distractions before these sheep start to notice that while their attention was on the boob tube, they were being sheared?!
There is a crisis of democracy in our oligarchy: it's gone. And there is a crisis of character as well, which gets thoroughly explored on these web pages: The Responsive Communitarian Platform, WHY Register for MC Search and Match?, Flat-gradient Nurturance versus Steep-gradient Nurturance, The Content of America's Character, Social Evolution Is Spinning Its Wheels, and The Forest Through The Trees.
