The Shadow Government: CIA involvement in the Kennedy Assassination, Vietnam, Iran Contra, Afghanistan, and Beyond
a book by Douglas W. Pegram
(our site's book review)
According to the publishers, the book outlines how the CIA has helped shape history by working with organized crime, money launderers and drug traffickers. In the shadows they have conducted many illicit and secret operations, some of which are explained in great detail in this book. CIA operations are often hidden from the American public and without appropriate oversight. Without public knowledge these black operations have used drug smuggling profits, financial fraud, and other covert means for funding. Secret wars have been fought without knowledge of Congress, media, or American citizens and even against the direct written orders of the President of the United States (so if he is not in charge, what good is he?). Documents released through Freedom of Information Requests (FOIA) detail these operations, how they were carried out, and who was directly involved. This book contains a chronicle of what your government does not want you to know. This stuff was supposed to stay in the shadows, but Pegram shines a light into dark places.

Various authors see the shadow government from various perspectives—like the blind men and the elephant, but the overall gist is creepily similar
The CIA involvement in the Kennedy assassination, Vietnam, Iran Contra, Afghanistan and other stuff is known and proven, but they won't discuss these with you—they will merely stonewall, deny, and lie, as they've been taught to do. The CIA shaped both American and world history through becoming involved with organized crime, foreign intelligence agencies, and drug traffickers. They fought covert wars and performed secret operations. The CIA was established during World War II to fight a covert war behind enemy lines against the Axis and communist countries. Many of their plans were then and are now carried out as secret operations.
U.S. Black Ops
Said ops would be considered illegal if the public was privy to those operations. But the public isn't. So the CIA remains—along with the NSA and Academi (an American private military company formerly called Blackwater) and many other security and surveillance departments—an essential tool of the empire building shadow government of the United States of America. The terror mantra for citizens is "if you see something, say something," while the mantra for the CIA is "if you see us do something, say nothing" (which makes you a co-conspirator).
The mantra for the CIA is 'if you see us do something, say nothing' (which makes you a co-conspirator)
As you can see, all this hypocrisy arises out of a culture steeped in moral relativism where "it isn't what you do that counts, it's what they see you do or what they can prove you do that counts." Sound familiar? (One of childhood's most critical lessons is simply: Don't get caught!) Even more familiarly: American politics works like this: Politicians practice evasion, lying, and hiding what they are so they can enter into election contests where they evade, lie, hide, deny, and pretend. Simultaneously, they boast, exaggerate, inflate, and say morally righteous things looking right into the camera in a practiced expression of trustfulness and integrity. Of course, each candidate reveals all discoverable rottenness of the other, so by the time the election occurs, the public hates these despicable, slithering snakes and doesn't want either of them, and the public sees negative ads and it's all they can do to not lose their lunches a.k.a. upchuck, blow chunks, spew, heave, retch, gag. So people go to the polls and vote for the lesser of evils in the voting booth, not the one they like or respect, since that died months ago. They're pretty clear it is a skunk competition—a rat race in all senses of the expression—and may heaven help us if we end up with a leader who is a real stinker! (e.g., Dubya and Obama—by the way, there is no sign heaven is helping us). So, as we mentioned, hypocrisy, fraud, and moral relativism permeate the culture from politics to entertainment to news to backstabbers at work to novels we read.
So America, wallowing in all the above, gets the leaders and government and intelligence services it deserves peopled by characters whose most telling character attribute is their lack of character. So our morally challenged CIA joined forces with underground criminal entities, drug traffickers, and organized crime. Black operations were funded through drug smuggling profits, financial fraud, and many other covert means which generated profits. These connections came to light later through individuals who were directly involved and possessed firsthand knowledge as well as declassified documents.
Our history has been secretly shaped by shadow government puppet masters, powerful politicians supported by greedy neocon oligarchs, and morally challenged public officials. Hey, what could go wrong??!!
Our history has been secretly shaped by shadow government puppet masters, powerful politicians supported by greedy neocon oligarchs, and morally challenged public officials. Hey, what could go wrong??!! This is not what the Founders had in mind when they invented democracy, folks. (See Democracy—an American Delusion.) But see for yourself. Go stand over one of their graves. Put your ear to the ground. Hear it? That is the sound of a Founder turning over in his grave!

Usually, covert wars were fought without Congress having knowledge of them and at times even against the order of the President of the United States. (Other times the President was the cheerleader and it was Congress which balked and bitched and thwarted, like with Reagan and his beloved [murderous, merciless, criminal] Contra thugs that Congress thwarted.) The CIA employed contractor agents from organized crime families and other crime syndicates both in the U.S. and abroad so as to have deniability and no responsibility. Documents released through Freedom of Information Requests (FOIA) detail the operations, how these operations were carried out, and who was directly involved. This book contains the chronicle of the CIA's illicit, illegal, immoral, barbaric nefariousness that your government did not want you to know about—they wanted it to stay in the shadows.
Shadow Government: Cheating and fraud and misrepresentation and end-running is a helluva way to run a railroad, but an ever worse way to run a democracy
The CIA had deep involvement in the Kennedy Assassination, Vietnam, Iran Contra, Africa, Latin American assassinations and dictator installations, Iraq, Afghanistan, and tons more. This 2016 (December 1) book tells it like it is. Read it and weep. Yes, Virginia, the CIA had deep involvement in the Kennedy Assassination, Vietnam, Iran Contra, Africa, Latin American assassinations and dictator installations, Iraq, Afghanistan, and tons more—and there is no Santa Claus. What's that, Virginia? You're moving to Canada?!
Due to the greedy neocons of the shadow government, the U.S. is circling the drain—it's time we SPOKE UP!
