Changing Images Of Man
a book by Oliver W. Markley, author, and Joseph Campbell, ed., and O. W. Markley, ed., and Willis W. Harman, ed.
(our site's book review)
The editors present changing images of man based upon transformation from the old, mechanistic-reductionistic paradigm mindset to the new, ecological-holistic paradigm mindset. They obviously prefer that this transformation happens faster and with less resistance from old-paradigm factions. They underline the difference between a tolerable living environment and a desirable one. One of their points is that all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Another one they make through the words of Simone de Beauvoir: “Life is occupied both in perpetuating itself and in surpassing itself; if all it does is maintain itself, then living is only not dying.”
