Frontlines: Finding My Voice on an American College Campus

a book by Isabel Brown

(our site's book review)

Brown's Book Gives Us a Front-Row Seat to Campus Indoctrination

Isabel Brown Explains Why Socialism = Poverty

The Amazon blurb says that A shocking and honest account of the culture war at American universities, giving you a front-row seat to campus indoctrination.

As a biomedical sciences student, Isabel Brown never anticipated finding herself immersed in a world of leftism, silenced by the thought police, and afraid to speak up for conservative values, but this is the reality that defined her college experience.

Isabel's story is a compelling memoir about the current state of affairs on America's college campuses—unveiling the truth that university administrators don't want you to hear—and a reminder of the need for true ideological diversity [since leftists block such things at every turn].

Brown's Book Is a Call to Action for Us All to Boldly Fight for the Future of American Culture On and Off Campus

Brown lets us know that she is hopeful that by reading her story, you will be prodded to help protect American culture from galloping leftism which has attempted to rid our country of all things conservative, changing a once vibrant culture into a cesspool of propaganda, indoctrination, and brainwashing. They no longer teach the various options one can adopt. They tell us what to think and all else is wrong, racist, and evil, especially if it came from the mouth of a white male. Brown says that the leftist indoctrination was so harsh and incessant it was like trying to study with a siren blasting in her ear.

Young Politicos Like Brown Are Drawing Much-Needed Attention to How Unreal the Alternate Reality of a College Campus Is

Brown says that "If you are familiar with the world of conservative politics today, you’ve seen many faces of young political leaders often discussing the insanity occurring at our nation’s universities. From Charlie Kirk to Candace Owens, and many more, these young politicos are drawing much-needed attention to how unreal the alternate reality of a college campus is. Most of these leaders and exceptional communicators have one thing in common: they are not current college students. You'll often hear these individuals and many more discussing the latest protest designed to block them or another conservative speaker from coming to campus."

The methods of indoctrination by leftists are fascist in nature, including blackmailing students, actors, teachers, and the media with the threat of cancelation if they fail to toe the party line

Brown says that "Many people are still fighting for education to provide the strongest learning institutions possible, but the reality is that most people running our nation’s institutions of higher education are, intentionally or not, propagating a leftist machine that will only continue to degrade the exceptional educational standards we once had in America. This is especially true for “career academics,” those who have never spent significant time in their adult lives away from a college campus and who later earn administrative positions at universities. That’s why it’s oh-so-important [to leftists] to have a massive contingent of faculty at nearly every institution in America dedicated to implementing “diversity initiatives” and changing the curriculum of our students' classes to fulfill the leftist agenda."

Conservative speakers (e.g., David Horowitz) have been treated with violence (e.g., pie in the face) to express the ugly intolerance of the leftist agenda

A Majority of College Students Support Shouting Down Speakers with Whom They Disagree, or Even Attacking Them

"What does our culture value? One recent survey found that a majority of college students support shouting down speakers with whom they disagree; 23 percent supported the use of violence toward this end. At some colleges, the percentage supporting such violence crept into the 40s. (Source: What Happens When Free Speech Dies, Judson Berger, national review)

"The reason advances have been made over the last 30 years is exactly because freedom of speech was protected. You may insert whatever social belief you think appropriate; those strides were made only because over time, and through the market place of ideas, society was persuaded. Society was persuaded not by threats of being cancelled, but by an exchange of ideas. See Cancel Culture: The Latest Attack on Free Speech and Due Process.

"We often hear some say they want to have a “conversation.” But do they? A conversation requires two opposite sides, freely expressing their viewpoint, without fear of punishment or retribution over even having the conversation itself. Regretfully, often the outcome of an expression of a different point of view, even in the context of what is intended to be an open conversation, is the opposite. I have unfortunately seen that first hand in all manner of open meetings where, ostensibly, what was sought was an open exchange of ideas only to see someone express the 'wrong' idea and be laden with all manner of labels for having done so." The remedy to bad speech is more speech, not enforced silence
The remedy to bad speech is more speech, not enforced silence

". . . the remedy to bad speech was “more speech, not enforced silence.” —Louis Brandeis, 1927 Supreme Court Justice

"That piece of writing has been deemed one of the most important commentaries ever crafted on the First Amendment. But Brandeis assumed something that has not been borne out by facts, which is that the better argument would generally win. He also assumed that relevant people on all sides of a question were equally capable of being heard and that skeptics were interested in listening. [Neither is true in 2021.]

"Much as many of us admire Louis Brandeis’s mind and spirit, the society he envisioned has never existed. Instead, we have created a society in which lying is both endemic and purposeful. We have brought the worst values of advertising into the political sphere and wedded that to long-established tactics of political propaganda, even as our political class has learned to use social media to spread disinformation that propagates at a breathtaking rate. The very idea that political speech would expose and therefore vanquish “falsehood and fallacies” now seems incredibly naïve. [Fake news media like CNN and MSNBC make lying an art, although the Trump-hating ACLU oozes liberal propaganda at a breathtaking rate and they would disagree, being such obedient flunkies that even when CNN and MSNBC get CAUGHT lying, they look the other way.]

"Free speech always had limits. But because of our new technological reality, because of the unexpected weaponization of speech, we are having to consider those limits in a new light. We live in a world where it is far from clear that the answer to bad speech is more speech; and where a foreign power, thanks to our freedom of expression, may well be responsible for the election of a U.S. president. We live in a time when a frightened white minority within the larger white majority fights to maintain control of our country; and when large corporations and cynical functionaries — eager to exploit fear — have a bigger megaphone (including their own television news networks) than anyone speaking for the powerless and dispossessed."

We Are in Effect Teaching: It Is Very Important to Be Completely Tolerant of Everyone and If Anyone Shows You Any Kind of Intolerance, We Will Have No Tolerance for Them!

"But the social sciences, in their zeal to protect the feelings of people, have thrown logic out the window and are unwittingly creating a less tolerant society. We are in effect teaching: It is very important to be completely tolerant of everyone. And if anyone shows you any kind of intolerance, we will have no tolerance for them!

Ironically, Some of the Most Intolerant, Offensive People You Can Find Are Ones Who Most Forcefully Insist That We Need to Create a Society in Which No One Is Intolerant or Offensive

"Today, college students face extreme indoctrination in their classrooms. They’re unable to advocate for their own personal beliefs, and if someone becomes an outspoken individual for the conservative side of thinking on their campus, they are often completely ridiculed by their peers, they face failing grades in their classes, they’re ostracized from other clubs or organizations on campus. . . . In summary, Isabel Brown is a fine, talented young woman who deserved no bullying, death threats, harassment, or threats of violence, but that is what she got for daring to have views that did not conform to the liberal narrative. If this is what higher learning is about, people would be better off getting online degrees or going to conservative colleges. The fact that Brown dared to start up conservative groups and invite conservative speakers to the campus speaks very highly for her character, her courage, and her daring. The world needs millions more people like Isabel Brown and millions less people like the liberal conformists that run and attend our universities.
