In this study, it was determined that parental authoritativeness in adolescents’ peer network benefited said adolescents supplementing the authoritative parenting already found beneficial at home. Network authoritativeness was associated with low levels of delinquency, school misconduct, psychological distress, and substance abuse as well as higher levels of psychosocial competence. The network authoritativeness advantage was highest among those who had authoritativeness at home as well.
