Third Wave Terrorism

Subway—how safe are we?
The article discusses with Alvin Toffler the future of terrorism. The example used was the sarin gas attack in the Tokyo subway system. Here was the ultimate devolution of power: the demassification of mass-destruction weapons. The state is no longer the only player; groups and even individuals will be playing the mass destruction game. The state is important as a force that will stop or punish such terrorism. It can track all ID numbers on chemical canisters from satellites and computer track all money transactions because they’ll be electronic.
Of course the core issue rarely discussed in interviews is that the one thing that matters more than who has what weapons is who is so crazed with anger that s/he desires to employ genocide to make a point? What makes people that crazy? They surely were not born with such desires! Think about how they are raised. The upbringings of many terrorists has oppressed and abused them so they're dying to reach out and act out their emotional pain ASAP. If society doesn't instill terror in their hearts in childhood, we won't have to endure terror from their actions once they grow into adults.
By not empowering relationships, parenting and communication with the existing wisdom on the subject, we help to create a world in which the proclivity for win-lose violent solutions involving war-forms is strong and preordained, and the proclivity for win-win solutions involving peace-forms is muted and unlikely to result in a peaceful world, since the basic character structures of the citizens have been misguidedly conditioned to reflect only win-lose mind-sets. See Flat-gradient Nurturance versus Steep-gradient Nurturance.
And there's another factor besides upbringing at work. We are against terrorists and the use of terror to make a point and we desire for them to cease such activities, but we totally understand where they are coming from, why they are angry, and what they feel they need to get vengeance about. The 21st century has been dominated by U.S. neocon empire building, U.S. grabbing control of oil, minerals, and the drug trade, and mass genocide of Islamic citizens by U.S. military and mercenary forces. The first 3000 people we killed—as a response to 9/11—made sense to the world. It was payback for the 3000 the 9/11 attackers killed. But the rest we killed for no good reason, and the world watched in horror as we kept it up for year after year, making both the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars the longest in our history. All this country wrecking and killing was done under the pretense of a War ON Terror. But the world—and many in the U.S.—quickly recognized it for what it was. A war OF terror, perpetrated on countries that were not a threat to the U.S. It was U.S. neocons and oligarchs slathering for profits and power.
The U.S. turned the Middle East into its own private shooting gallery, murdering several innocents for every terror suspect we killed
Our words were about stopping terror. But our deeds were about multiplying terror problems worldwide, stuffing the wallets of the oligarchs in Halliburton and other defense and construction and reconstruction companies as well as weapons manufacturing companies. We turned the Middle East into our own private shooting gallery, murdering several innocents for every terror suspect we killed. (And these suspects were mere suspects, not necessarily terrorists.) The predictable result of all this carnage against Islamics was that when we'd kill 10 "terrorists," we'd create 100, then we'd kill 100, but create 1000, and then we'd kill 1000, but create 10,000—all because when one kills one Muslim, 5 of his friends and 5 of his relatives swear vengeance on the infidel Satan West warmongers and they'd become terrorists themselves. We have a genuine terrorist creation factory going, and the end result of our bull-in-a-china-shop tactics was the Islamics evolving a few bull-in-a-china-shop tactics of their own: ISIS. Bush may have started the war but OBomb'em's incredible Middle East bungling created the ISIS phenomenon.
