The Stakes: America at the Point of No Return

The Amazon blurb says that AMERICA AT THE POINT OF NO RETURN
The next election is the most important one America has faced in more than a century.
That’s not campaign hype. America is divided as almost never before—with contesting political factions regarding themselves not as rivals but as enemies.
And the frightening thing is that, in large part, they’re right.
The unifying national heritage of patriotism and pride in America’s past has been dumped and trampled on by liberals in favor of 'identity politics,' ugly, hateful divisiveness aimed at turning us against each other
The Democratic Party has become the party of “identity politics”—and every one of those identities is defined against a unifying national heritage of patriotism, pride in America’s past, and hope for a shared future.
Offering only antagonism based on group identity—whether race, sex, or something else—the Democrats look forward to imposing nationally what they have achieved in California: one-party rule in a lockdown nation, where the ruling class makes every decision and doles out benefits to favored groups.
Against them is a divided Republican Party. Gravely misunderstanding the opposition, old-style Republicans still seek bipartisanship and accommodation, wrongly assuming that Democrats care about playing by the tiresome old rules laid down in the Constitution and other fundamental charters of American liberty.
The new core of the Republican Party is the populists and nationalists, who are tired of losing. The party’s only hope of victory, they are all that stand between the United States as we have traditionally understood it and a revolution—less dramatic in appearance but just as consequential as the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia.
Michael Anton, the author of the most scathing, memorable, and quoted essay of the 2016 campaign season, “The Flight 93 Election”—which Rush Limbaugh called “one of the greatest columns ever written”—now explains in depth why the stakes have risen even higher.
Ranging across every hot-button political topic of our time—from immigration to nationalism to war—and informed by a profound understanding of classical and American political philosophy, The Stakes: America at the Point of No Return will transform the way you view politics and America’s future.
"Societies in decline fixate on impossible postmodern dreams as a way of disguising their inability to address premodern problems"—Victor Davis Hanson
Anton says ". . . huge swaths of San Francisco and Los Angeles—two of the richest cities in the history of the world—contend with public urination and defecation at levels exceeding the worst slums of Calcutta. And which, combined with rampant rat infestations, give rise to diseases that definitely do have names, though not necessarily in Latin: cholera, hepatitis A, typhus, and the Bubonic Plague, the "Black Death," which killed a third of Europe in the fourteenth century. The state and its local governments have proven powerless or unwilling to do anything about this." [D.A. Chesa Boudin has said his office refuses to prosecute public pooping. One can replace "do bears poop in the woods?" with "do Californians poop in the streets? and be entirely accurate.]
Bears poop in the woods
One can replace 'do bears poop in the woods?' with 'do Californians poop in the streets?' and be entirely accurate
Anton says "On his second day in office, that new San Francisco DA fired his seven most-experienced prosecutors—because they were too good at their jobs. Which, as he has redefined, is no longer to convict criminals but to further 'social justice.' Similar stories can be told throughout the state, anywhere Bloomberg—Soros—Steyer money floods in to determine local elections, which is everywhere."
Anton says "California's environmentalism is shot through with double standards. God forbid an oil or gas company disrupt the migratory path of a single California quail; executives will be besieged by state apparatchiks and lawyers, while their shareholders foot the enormous bill to 'get back into compliance.' But wind turbines can slaughter birds by the tens of thousands and... nothing. Wind is 'green,' you see."
California wind turbines slaughter birds by the tens of thousands—since when is bird genocide environmentalism?
California has a third to a half of all U.S. welfare recipients but only 12% of the people—one of the reasons they have skyhigh taxes and sin taxes. And of course since the state is nothing if not consistent, it has a quarter of all the homeless people in the U.S. But they are not out of work factory workers or something similar. Most are lazy, irresponsible people who feel the world owes them a living. They choose to live on the streets. They are often mentally ill, on drugs, or petty criminals happy to let working Californians kick in their welfare check. People come from other states to get in on this free bonanza. The state has a special love for illegal immigrants.
The progressive ruling class fully intends to Californicate the rest of our nation. Nearly everything about California is dysfunctional, from the politics to the law and order people to the public services to the security to the district attorneys to the housing to the welfare administration. But the powers-that-be think of their state as generous, forgiving, Green, climate change worshippers (nonbelievers will be sorry!), not a dysfunctional basket case, which wiser people believe. If Californication sounds great to you, vote Biden. If keeping America a great country matters to you, vote Trump (like we are).
Nearly everything about California is dysfunctional, from the politics to the law and order people to the public services to the security to the district attorneys to the housing to the welfare administration
Michael Anton's withering dissection of The Ruling Class (by Angelo Codevilla) will make you very angry. Our elites have nasty, ugly plans for you—and if they get their way, most people will not like them—except the elites. Turning the rest of America into California (Californication) will mean one-party rule, absurd energy and environmental policies, dysfunction, an obsession with "wokeness," and no regard for the lives of ordinary middle class people.
It is actually in the oligarchs' interest to keep the lower class from becoming middle class; note the ladder of class mobility is rigged so the nonrich never become rich
Is there hope of turning things around? Anton paints a bleak, even apocalyptic portrait of where we are and where the present trends will lead. See Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power and The Smallest Minority: Independent Thinking in the Age of Mob Politics.
Biden will need naps between questions in the 2020 debates
Democrats and their friends in the media attempting to push Biden’s candidacy forward resemble nothing so much as the cast of the 1989 comedy Weekend at Bernie’s, hauling around their dead boss’s corpse and trying to pretend he’s still alive—Robert Stacy McCain in The American Spectator
The biggest problem with American society comes from wealthy oligarchs diverting attention away from themselves by fomenting division between the lower class and the middle class. It is actually in the oligarchs' interest to keep the lower class from becoming middle class. The wealthy adopt protective ideological coloration in which they espouse support for lower-class welfare. This kind of virtue signaling is ugly, phony, and reprehensible. See the best book of the 21st century: Requiem for the American Dream: The 10 Principles of Concentration of Wealth & Power.
The socialism that Biden and Harris want to unleash on our country is actually communism on a slow train; socialism and communism are the biggest failures in history—are we really ready to let these losers take our great country down the drain?
Anton uses California as an example of the dysfunction and decrepitude that result from this strange alliance of oligarchs, chattering classes, and the racially, sexually, and biologically aggrieved victim classes that they wield against the middle class. Trump is an essential bulwark who will buy the Republican party time to transform itself from media-designated loser to a true coalition of America-first interests. California Democrats are radical racist anti-American traitors who want to do to America what they've done to California. In California, there are only Democrats ruling. No Republicans anymore. This is exactly what they want to do to America. Bye-bye democracy, hello tyranny!
There is a strange alliance of oligarchs, chattering classes, and the racially, sexually, and biologically aggrieved victim classes that they wield against the middle class as they're shaking them down
Defining various ethnic and racial groups in our country as aggrieved victim classes is a classic bait-and-switch scam. The point is to so polarize and divide American citizens as to get them fighting each other instead of focusing their attention on the liberal elites who are scamming them. This is classic divide-and-conquer. The end result the liberals publish is helping the oppressed, the poor, and the racially oppressed masses. The end result the liberals WILL NEVER publish is that the liberal elites are scamming the public by feigning great compassion for the oppressed, the poor, and the racially oppressed masses, while in truth they are dividing and conquering as a strategy to gain the levers of power so they can legislate and regulate the conservatives out of office until the G.O.P. collapses and ceases to exist, paving the way for a one-party country that can become socialist and throw out the Constitution and democracy as the socialist tyranny rules over all, putting great wealth and power into the corrupt hands of the liberal elite who will quickly appoint themselves royalty with all power.
Socialists will throw out the Constitution and democracy as the socialist tyranny rules over all, putting great wealth and power into the corrupt hands of the liberal elite who will quickly appoint themselves royalty with all power—perhaps returning Obozo as royalty (gag!!!!)
In a totalitarian democracy, the real truth about the Biden/Harris "socialist Democracy," the public must be barred from managing their own affairs, and the means of information are kept narrowly and rigidly controlled and supplied with a lot of propaganda. This is the prevailing conception, both in theory and operation, although the politicians will not admit it and you will not find such definitions in high school civics or history books. In that textbook version of democracy, the public must be allowed to participate in a meaningful way in the management of their own affairs, and the means of information are open and free. There's a free press. But this idea of democracy is a delusion, as is the free press idea. See Democracy—an American Delusion and Freedom of the Press—an American Delusion.
Anton frames much of his discussion in his book around the concepts of the Narrative (the sick, twisted, racist message the ruling classes demand be accepted without question); the Megaphone (the vile instruments of propaganda through which the Narrative is broadcast at constant maximum volume); and the Muzzle (the new and ever-more-powerful system of crushing wrongthink, especially via the woke mob's cancel culture). If all this sounds like Orwell's 1984, that's because it is. The radical left has a degenerate dystopia planned for the vast majority of us, but a liberal utopia planned for the liberal elite royalty that rule us in a one-party tyranny. See Big Brother: The Orwellian Nightmare Come True.

Mark Dice's Big Brother: The Orwellian Nightmare Come True shows you the scary documentation that Big Brother truly is watching you, and is more powerful than you could imagine
Orwell’s famous book 1984 was first published in 1949, and tells the story of a nightmarish future where citizens have lost all privacy and are continuously monitored by the omniscient Big Brother surveillance system which keeps them obedient to a totalitarian government. The novel is eerily prophetic as many of the fictional systems of surveillance described have now become a reality.
The government prefers we don't notice what is really going on, so it distracts us so that instead of seeing through all their facades, we are instead chasing shiny objects
Propaganda keeps us obedient, distracted, consuming, but never questioning the CW, the media, the authorities
Fly #353242252 reporting: Citizen #312,756,972 doesn't seem to be hiding a thing—my conclusion is that she's clean; but just to be sure I think I'll hang around a bit longer!
Political mind games of the 1% manipulate our understanding of what's happening. We see that the surveillance continues even though their own analysis showed it to be useless—not preventing any attacks (of which we've had several). We see that the war in Afghanistan continues even though it has been shown that the world now has more terrorism than ever. Our military has not reduced terrorism—it has increased it. The U.S. military is a terrorism factory. The predatory oligarchs' political mind games come up with lame and pathetic excuses for why they continue these expensive failures.
Those of us whose heads are not up our butts see that the wars are simply shadow government-directed enriching of oligarchs no matter how much they call our war OF terrorism a war ON terrorism. Those of us whose heads are not up our butts see that the surveillance has nothing to do with terrorism—it's about monitoring and controlling the citizens as the shadow government slowly decreases our rights and our privacy. If too much rebellion happens, the monitoring will enable rebels to be smacked down. See Wages of Rebellion: The Moral Imperative of Revolt.
Law enforcement and intelligence agencies joined with corporate America, raiding commercial databases to support surveillance aimed at nearly everyone on planet Earth
"In his new book, The Stakes: America at the Point of No Return, Anton, now a lecturer and research fellow at Hillsdale College, again urges Americans to vote for Trump, disappointed though they may be with his performance, because they know even better than before how much this country’s ruling class would use control of the presidency to hurt us in our private and public lives for having dared to reject their mastery. Trump, imperfect as he is, is like a finger in a dike that, if removed, would loose a deluge. . . . should the Democrats win, the ruling Left . . . is ready, willing, and eager to implement plans that would make it virtually impossible for conservatives ever to win national elections again. These plans include the importation and counting of non-citizen voters. Elections-by-mail would shift power from voters to those who count the votes, just like in Venezuela.... [now a basket case]" (Source: The immense stakes in this election, Angelo M. Codevilla, Claremont Review of Books)
In short, the ruling class has unleashed a bunch of tigers on America, which for now it is riding. Whether and for how long it can stay on their backs and not end up in their bellies is an open question... (Source: The immense stakes in this election, Angelo M. Codevilla, Claremont Review of Books)
In a great Amazon book review, B A Patty says: "A Warning Shot Everyone Should Hear: Should the United States dissolve? Should red counties in blue states remove themselves from the states to join neighboring red states, or to form new ones? Are peaceful outcomes still possible? Anton is praiseworthy in that he is at least still seeking them. For those who would paint his work in a negative light, ask yourself who else really is. Armed violence is in our streets, and cities are burning in the face of those Anton calls the Wokerati. The old solutions no longer work. Both left and right say that the solution is to vote the other out of power at every level, but neither has the votes. War is the obvious solution, but not a good one. This book wisely tries to imagine a new working way." (Source: A Warning Shot Everyone Should Hear, B A Patty, Amazon reviewer) See The Coming Civil War.

And dissension have begun."—Alfred Bester
"[starting November 4] . . . 600 lawyers to litigate the outcome, possibly in every state. No particular outcome of such litigations is needed to set off a systemic crisis. The existence of the litigations themselves is enough for one or more blue state governors to refuse to certify that state’s electors to the Electoral College, so as to prevent the college from recording a majority of votes for the winner. In case no winner could be confirmed by January’s Inauguration Day, the 20th Amendment provides that Congress would elect the next president. Who doubts that, were Donald Trump the apparent winner, and were Congress in Democratic hands, that this would be likelier than not to happen? Before or afterward, were conservatives not unanimously to roll over, and were a few incidents to result in loss of life and conflict between police forces on opposite sides of the affairs, America might well experience an explosion of pent-up rage less like the American Civil War of the 19th century and more like the horror that bled Spain in the 20th." [The 1936-1945 White Terror in Spain used many horrors—executions, rapes, massacres, concentration camps—and other techniques—confiscation of property, public humiliation, show trials—in their political fight to gain power and control. No wonder liberals want to take weapons and the right to bear arms from conservatives!
